MRCS - Intercollegiate

We no longer run MRCS classroom courses. Please review our MRCS online course to help you pass your medical examination.

Best of five MRCS Part 1 course new format

With the College having introduced new changes from September 2006, Doctors need guidance to understand the difficulties of the "Best of five" question format. 123Doc MRCS Part 1 courses have been reformatted accordingly, giving candidates an opportunity to practice hundreds of BOF questions and succeed in their exam, at a time when there are no books available to practice.

123Doc MRCS Classroom courses are run in small interactive groups and contain a complete package including the online Q-Bank to help your studies. 123Doc MRCS course packages are not limited to a 3 or 7-day course, but are designed to provide you with a set of various learning resources, allowing you to study effectively from the time you subscribe to the day of your examination.

3 to 7-Day MRCS Classroom Course

123Doc understands the importance of having a small and unintimidating classroom size which allows you to interact with your lecturer, rather than being forced to fight to participate and receive attention from your tutors. Instead of a 'lecture', we provide you with a small classroom course that strives for interactivity, participation and as much one on one tutor/student attention as possible.

MRCS Online Pre-Course Testing

Our pre-course test is in an online MRCS mock-exam format, which you complete prior to the course. Once you have completed the MRCS pre-test, just hit ‘send’ and on your screen you will receive a results package. Included is an analysis of your score, study advice, and a list of workshops to go through before the start of your MRCS classroom course. The purpose of these MRCS workshops is to help you fill the knowledge gap before you attend your MRCS course so that you can make the most of it. Our courses teach at exam level, so it is wise to use these pre-course tools to make sure you have the basic knowledge to make the most of your MRCS course. These workshops are personally designed for you, based on the weaker points from your MRCS pre-test results.

MRCS Q-Book and Handouts

Upon arrival at 123Doc’s classroom course, you get the MRCS Part 1 or Part 2 Q-book which contains 270 T/F or 380 EMQ practice questions. The Q-book also includes teaching notes for each question. You will find this tool essential to prepare for your exam, as practice is the key to success. You will also receive handouts from the tutors that contain teaching notes and explanations for the more complex and important topics, helping you obtain a clearer understanding for many of the MRCS specialties.

Electronic Response Pads

All 123Doc classroom courses use electronic response pads, which encourage you to actively participate during the course. They allow you to record your answers throughout the MRCS course for each question asked by the tutors. After each question you and the lecturer can see the distribution of the answers for the class and the lecturers know whether they should spend more time on that question or not. All of your answers are stored in our database, which allows us to give you a course-end report. You will know instantly how well you are doing compared to you peers and which areas you need to improve on. Response pads are also used to participate in the available MRCS mock-exams that can be done on your own time during the MRCS classroom course.

MRCS Post-Course Report

123Doc’s post-course report gives you your score, as derived from your electronic response pad course answers, as well as other students average scores in the class. These statistics can give you a feel for how prepared you are for the MRCS, and how much studying you have yet to do.

MRCS Part 1 and 2 Q-Bank E-Study

123Doc’s Q-Bank is filled with over almost 1343 MRCS Part 1 and 1380 MRCS 2 question items based on past exam themes. Each question coincides with its own set of teaching notes, with links to our online reference surgery textbook. The Q-Bank also supplies you with lists to memorize and allows you to study by topic or by difficulty level. There is an unlimited supply of timed MRCS mock-exams, which are not only good exam practice, but will also give you an idea of how to pace yourself during the actual MRCS examination. If you have any queries or comments about the information provided through the MRCS Q-Bank, 123Doc provides an online MRCS tutor who is available to receive and reply to your emails. The MRCS Q-Bank can be used at anytime, from any computer with internet access; making it the perfect e-study tool.

These MRCS study materials, Q-bank, handouts, teaching notes, and electronic response pad results, will strengthen your knowledge and leave you better prepared and more confident for the MRCS examination. These exam preparation tools, when used to there full advantage, can make an excellent preparation and review, giving you the best chance of success.
