"Best of Five" Clinical Scenarios for the MRCP Part 1EDITORSDr Punit Ramrakha MA, (Cambridge), BMBCh (Oxon), MRCP (UK), PhD (London) Punit graduated from Cambridge (MA, 1st Class Hons.) and Oxford University (BMBCh) with many university prizes. He has trained in General Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, St Thomas.s Hospital and National Hospital Queen Square in London, before undertaking his cardiology training as a Registrar at the Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary's Hospital, London. He has a good foundation in Molecular Medicine and the Basic Sciences, and spent 4 years doing a PhD into endothelial adhesion molecules; he received University and International Awards for this work. He was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist in 2002. Punit has extensive experience in writing and teaching: he is Editor of the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine 3rd Edition (OUP, 1993), the Oxford Handbook of Acute Medicine (OUP, 1997), and QBase Medicine 1 (GMM, 1998). He has been teaching on courses for the MRCP and MRCPCH in London since 1994 and co-founded 123Doc Education in 2000. Dr Iqbal Malik MBBChir, (Cambridge), MA (Cambridge), MRCP (UK) Iqbal trained at Peterhouse, Cambridge University, where he was a Scholar and gained a 1st class honours degree. He then completed his undergraduate education at Guy.s Hospital, London, winning several prizes along the way. His postgraduate education was on the Royal London Senior House Officer Rotation, before he became a Registrar in Cardiology at the Hammersmith Hospital. Having worked at several West London Hospitals, he was appointed as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at St Mary.s Hospital, London, in 2003. He completed his PhD thesis in 2003 looking at inflammatory markers in coronary heart disease. He has published several papers on the role of inflammation. Iqbal has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education since 1995, teaching medical students, MRCP candidates and specialist trainees. In addition, he is involved in innovative training programs for general practitioners and non-medical specialists.
