Introduction

If you are reading this document it means you have been experiencing problems with accessing the 123doc website. Of the small number problems that occur, a vast majority relate to browser configuration and the customer’s Internet Service Provider.

This document has been created to guide 123doc customers through the process of configuring their browser quickly and correctly.

Step 1: Deleting your browser’s cache

Deleting your browser’s cache will destroy any existing cookies from your system and allow you to start fresh.

Note: this does not alter your subscription to 123doc in any way.

Internet Explorer 5, 5.5 & 6

  1. Click on ‘Tools’ in the menu line at the top of the screen
  2. Click on ‘Internet Options’
  3. Select the 'General' tab (this is usually the default)
  4. Click the 'Delete Cookies' button and say yes to the question. (Internet Explorer 5.5 & 6.0 only)
  5. Click the 'Delete Files' button, check the checkbox and click the yes button in the question that appears.
  6. Click the 'Clear history' button and say yes to the question that appears

Netscape 6

  1. Click on ‘edit’.
  2. Select ‘Preferences’ then ‘Privacy and Security’.
  3. Select ‘Cookies’ then click ‘View stored cookies’.
  4. Click on the ‘Cookie sites’ tab, highlight 123doc.com and click on ‘remove site’.
  5. Click ‘ok’ and close all the boxes.

Netscape 7

  1. Click on the ‘Tools’ menu, ‘Cookie Manager’ followed by ‘Manage Stored Cookies’
  2. Click the ‘Cookie Sites’ tab.
  3. Select 123doc.com
  4. Click the ‘Remove Site’ button.
  5. Click ok to close all the boxes.

Step 2: Modifying your proxy settings

Many, if not most, ISPs use "proxy servers" to handle internet traffic. An ISP is your Internet Service Provider - the place you dial into to get to the Internet (such as AOL, MSN, etc.). A proxy server is actually a huge "cache," a holding tank for all the pages users are accessing on the Internet. The first time you try to access a page (on 123doc or any other site), your browser will access the page directly from the internet. After that first time, however, your ISP will often pull up a "cached" copy of that page for you, instead of pulling the fresh page directly from the Internet. This allows you faster page loading, cuts down on Internet traffic, and allows your ISP to better manage its bandwidth.

Here is how to change your proxy settings on each of the major browsers (please bear in mind that these instructions may vary somewhat, depending on what browser version you're using - you can play around with it to find the correct method for your particular version):

Internet Explorer

  1. In your browser menu, click on Tools, then on Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Connections tab.
  3. Click on the Settings button in the "Dial-up Settings" area.
  4. In the "Proxy Server" section of the next screen, make sure the "Use a
  5. proxy server" is NOT checked.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart your browser.

Netscape

  1. In your browser menu, click on Edit, then on Preferences.
  2. Click on Advanced, then Proxies
  3. Make sure the option "Direct Connection to the Internet" is checked.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart your browser.

AOL

  1. At the bottom left-hand corner of your Windows screen, click on the Start button (not in AOL, in Windows).
  2. Click on Settings, then Control Panel.
  3. Double-click on Internet Options.
  4. Click on the Connections tab.
  5. Click on the Settings button in the "Dial-up Settings" area.
  6. In the "Proxy Server" section of the next screen, make sure the "Use a proxy server" is NOT checked.
  7. Click AOL
  8. Restart AOL

Step 3: Privacy Settings

Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 6 has various ways of handling cookies. Therefore, you may want to add www.123doc.om to your list of trusted sites and override cookie handling for 123doc. Please go to your Browser and click on:

Making www.123doc.com a trusted site

  1. Click on the ‘Tools’ menu
  2. Internet Options
  3. Click the ‘Security’ tab.
  4. Click the ‘Trusted Sites’ icon.
  5. Click the ‘Sites’ button
  6. Uncheck the ‘Require Server Verification’ checkbox.
  7. Type in ‘http://www.123doc.com’ and click the add button.
  8. Click ‘OKÂ’ button to close the window.

Overriding Cookie Handling for www.123doc.com

  1. Click on the ‘Tools’ menu.
  2. Internet Options
  3. Click the ‘Privacy Tab’
  4. Click the ‘Edit‘ button in the lower part of the dialog box.
  5. A new dialog will appear. Type www.123doc.com in to the text box and click the allow button.
  6. Click OK, then OK again.
