Passing of MRCPCH Part 1a and Part 1b

Hi everyone,
I passed mrcpch part 1a and part 1b held on 8th October 2013. Thanks to 123doc.com team for making it possible. The questions set in the Question of the day column by different authors were really helpful as were the accompanying study notes with the question. The questions set by your team were really eye opener for me because of which I could streamline my preparation.

congratulations on your passing. I passed paper1a in Feb. 2013, that time enrolled with 123doc. After that could not concentrate in paediatrics because of Plab exam. Now enrolled 123doc again.....Should I appear for paper 1b in Feb 2014? What is your opinion? How did you prepare?
How many times you revised the study material?
Did you read any other book?

Thanks and congratulations to you too for passing part 1a in Feb 2013.
In my opinion, you should appear in Feb 2014 for part 1b as the preparation for both the parts are almost same except that you need to brush up your applied aspects of anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology i.e. those aspects of topics which are of given clinical significance.
Regarding books, my main reference book was Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics. Besides this, I did selective topics study from Essential Revision Notes for MRCPCH by Beattie and Champion, Concise Paediatrics By Rachel U Sidwel and Basic Sciences for MRCP by Philipps J Easterbrook.
Frankly speaking, I did not have much time for revision as I am actively involved in job. But anyhow, I revised certain important topics on which questions were repeatedly asked.
